Who I am …

I write essays, make podcasts, audio edit for public radio and independent shows, spearhead memory-making and storytelling audio initiatives, ride horses, and read books. I’m passionate about art, history, literature, and theology.

I wear many hats in my life. I’m the busy mom of two small daughters living on a farm with a growing menagerie of animals.

For the past decade, my professional life has been in audio. I got my start at an independent radio program called Interfaith Voices, a show that brought together people of different religious traditions for discussion and debate. The show generated genuine connections, powerful storytelling, and even changed some minds. Having seen firsthand the power of an audio medium, I became intent on pursuing a career in producing.

I went on to work for Baltimore’s NPR station, 88.1 WYPR where I worked on a number of local programs, was a production assistant for the award-winning show, Out of the Blocks, and was featured in Baltimore Magazine’s ‘Best of Baltimore’ for producing Future City hosted by (now) Governor Wes Moore.

I served as a Judge for the Edgar Allan Poe Saturday Visitor Awards, was a panelist for podcast production during Baltimore’s Innovation Week, and served on the station’s internal podcasting committee. As a freelance audio producer and editor, I have worked for NPR member stations, PRX, independent shows, The Goethe Institut, and the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience, among others.

In 2024, I started my own audio consulting company, MediaMarq.

For four years, I hosted and produced my own arts and theology podcast, Born of Wonder, discussing everything from the liturgy to Oxford women philosophers to Jo March to why Icelanders believe in Elves. You can listen to the entire Born of Wonder archive here, or wherever you download your podcasts.

I am the current host of the Smithsonian’s podcast, “Stories from Main Street.”

I am also a writer. You can join the 2,700+ other subscribers to my newsletter where I discuss everything from technology struggles to theological debates to life on a farm. Additionally, I send out a monthly physical mailing to paid subscribers including copies of a handwritten essay, recipes, book and movie recommendations, art, and iconography.

I am a lifelong equestrian and aspiring farmer/homesteader. I am particularly passionate about a unique, ancient breed with a fabulously smooth gait, a mythic history, and an incredible temperament: The Icelandic Horse.

In 2024, I co-led a historical, Catholic, literary tour of Ireland. I would love to lead more trips someday.
